SNAP Up Local Foods

SNAP Up Local Foods supports farmers’ markets and helps make fresh local food an option to everyone in the Greenbrier Valley, regardless of their income. SNAP Up aims to do this by encouraging more people to redeem their SNAP benefits, as well as WIC and Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program vouchers, at area farmers’ markets. One important element of SNAP Up is to dollar-for-dollar doublethese federal nutrition benefits when they are redeemed at participating markets.

SNAP Up Local Foods was developed and launched by Appalachian Mountain Advocates and GVLFI in spring 2014. Renewed efforts will be administered by GVLFI.

4 participating markets include: Alderson Community Market, Pocahontas County Farmers Market, Lewisburg Farmers Market, and the Indoor Winter Market at the WV State Fairgrounds.
